The Tempature of Water Affects the Height of Chickpea Plants.
By Shiraz, Felix, and Chuma in the homeroom 6H.
ABSTRACT: The temperature of water affects the growth of a chickpea plant. This experiment took place during January 9th through Feburary 6th. We tried to find out if the temperature of water affected the height of a chickpea plant. We used three different water temperatures namely, hot water (32 degrees Celcius), room temperature water (25 degrees Celcius), and cold (0 degrees Celcius). We adjusted the temperature of the water by using a teakettle to heat up the water and ice to mke the water cold. We then watered the plant at the same time, 6pm every day, and with the same amount of water, 30 mLs for four weeks. The independent variable is the temperature of the water because the water's temperature is the thing that we purposely change. The dependent variable is the height of the plants because it is the thing that we are measuring. Our hypothesis was supported because we found the temperature of the water does affect the height.

MATERIALS;
3 Ziploc 450 mL polypropelene bowls
1 30 cm ruler
15 Goya Chickpeas
30 mL of 32°C water
30 mL of 0°C water
30 mL of 25°C water
750 mL of potting soil
1 knife
1 measuring cup
1 Celcius thermometer
1 Marker
1 Kettle
1 Stove
1 Fridge
PROCEDURE: Gather supplies
1. Pour 250mL soil into each plastic bowl
2. Plant 5 chickpeas into each bowl
3. With the marker, write hot on one bowl, room temp. on another, and cold on the last bowl
4. First take the thermometer and put it in the kettle. Then take 30 mL of water and put it into the kettle so the water can heat up until 32°.
5. Take 30 mL of water and put it in a cup. Then place the thermometer in the cup. Take the cup and put it into the fridge
6. Take the thermometer and put it in another cup that is filled with 30 mL of water. Leave the cup out until it reaches 25 degrees celcius.
7. At 6:00 PM, water each plant.
8. Record data
9. Repeat steps 5-9 daily for 28 days.

Lessons Learned
◘ 32°C water is the best for plants.
- The temperature of water could have changed by the time it reached the plants.
- Outside temperature could have affected the plants as well.
- Not everything was constant because the plants were in different houses with different enviorments in each house.
- Although hot water kills the roots of plants, the plants that were watered with the hottest water grew pretty tall.
- The water might not have been hot/cold/warm enough to be considered hot/warm/cold.

The amount of liquids and some other things may be wrong with your materials list. You must include total amounts used throughout the entire experiment in this section.

I really liked your page and I thought it was very organized!!! The only thing that I thought was missing was a little bit more information on why each plant was either the highest or the lowest. But overall exteremly nice page!!!!!!!!!!

I liked the lay out of your page and it was very organized. nice pictures.Like Sophie said i think you need to discuss your data a bit more.

I think your page looks really nice. However, in the data table, Felix's data and the averages are not there. Even though not everything was constant, you guys watered the plants at the same time and used the same amount of water for each plant. Great Job!
